Maya is a visual artist focused on sites of cultural translation. Her projects in photography, installation, drawing, and film originate in her multilingual background and experience as a language educator. Descended of Jewish-Moroccan and American parentage, she speaks varying degrees of French, Spanish, and Arabic. Collaboration and the act of talking through the creative process with other artists, colleagues, and students have been important aspects of her practice. Krinsky was co-writer and on the edit team for the Academy Award-nominated experimental documentary Hale County This Morning, This Evening. She is currently Associate Director for Multilingual Learning at Rhode Island School of Design and Adjunct Visual Art faculty at Brown University.
